GRAU DATA and Arcitecta Join Forces to Help Organizations More Strategically and Efficiently Manage Massive Data Volumes across Multiple Storage Platforms
Schwäbisch-Gmünd – April 30, 2025 – GRAU DATA, a specialist in data archiving, data protection and metadata-driven data search, and Arcitecta, a creative and innovative data management software company, today announced they have integrated their respective solutions to help organizations manage large volumes of data across multiple storage platforms more strategically and efficiently. The two companies were recently selected by the Technical University of Dresden to implement the combination of Arcitecta’s Mediaflux® data management platform and GRAU DATA’s XtreemStore object storage software to optimize data archiving on magnetic tapes.
Research institutions face several challenges associated with managing and utilizing their growing data to its full potential. Massive volumes of data spread across multiple storage platforms lead to limited visibility and inefficient archiving processes. Classifying, searching and accessing data can be difficult – especially cold or archived files. Without a centralized system, institutions often struggle with fragmented and siloed tools. In addition, new technologies require a more modern, cost-effective method for long-term storage that can integrate with interfaces such as S3 Glacier.
The combined solution from Arcitecta and GRAU DATA directly addresses these pain points by delivering a scalable, metadata-rich and tightly integrated system optimized for data-intensive academic and research environments.
The Technical University of Dresden selected the integrated solution from Arcitecta and GRAU DATA to meet its demanding requirements for efficient, scalable and intelligent data management. By combining Arcitecta’s Mediaflux data management platform with GRAU DATA’s XtreemStore object storage software, the university benefits from a powerful system that optimizes data archiving on magnetic tapes while maintaining visibility and access to archived files.
The integrated solution enables cold data to be seamlessly moved to cost-effective LTO (linear tape-open) – a high-capacity, high-performance magnetic tape storage – via the S3 Glacier interface, reducing storage costs without sacrificing discoverability with Mediaflux’s robust metadata management capabilities. This approach allows researchers and administrators to retain a global view of their data across all storage tiers.
“The Mediaflux data management platform and the XtreemStore software form the ideal combination for customers who need to manage and provide very large amounts of data on different storage platforms,” said Herbert Grau, CEO of GRAU DATA. “The implementation with the Technical University of Dresden demonstrates the value of our combined solutions, potentially leading to future projects for resellers and integrators.”
“Arcitecta sells the Mediaflux software worldwide through resellers and integrators. With XtreemStore, these sales partners now also have an extremely scalable and well-integrated solution for data archiving on magnetic tapes,” said Frank Radefeldt, Arcitecta’s sales manager EMEA, based in Munich. “We look forward to working with GRAU DATA to deliver the powerful value of our integrated solutions and help organizations transform the way they manage and archive data.”
