The Blocky ransomware protection software “Blocky for TSM®” integrates seamlessly with the IBM Spectrum Protect backup solution, enabling organizations to incorporate Microsoft Windows-based ransomware protection into their backup and recovery strategy.

Based on GRAU DATA’s long-proven WORM technology, Blocky reliably protects backup data from compromise, such as by ransomware. IBM Spectrum Protect backup data is automatically written by Blocky to the desired storage medium via software WORM and is thus immutable.

To ensure that the backup software retains read and write access despite WORM storage, Blocky provides access via a unique fingerprint identification process. Through this secure process, only IBM Spectrum Protect has full access to the backups; all other write access attempts, including those by ransomware, are consistently blocked.

The repository resides on a local block device, such as an internal disk, FC-LUN, or iSCSI-LUN, which is configured as a local volume from the perspective of the Windows operating system.
